According to official statistics produced by the Civil Aviation Authority, British Midland Internation or BMI, which is the UK's second largest airline, was the most punctual airline operating from Heathrow in 2010.
With an average delay of just 12 minutes, 78.8% of flights were on time. Overall, bmi came sixth in the tables, but were far ahead of their British rivals, British Airways & Virgin Atlantic, which came 16th and 26th respectively.
In 2009, bmi was also the top ranked British airline in terms of punctuality and has successfully maintained this position despite the heavy snow in the latter part of 2010 and the earlier ash cloud crisis. It operated over 38,000 flights in the 12 months of the year.
Data is gathered by www.flightontime.info and shows that bmi regional came top of the list, being most punctual not just at Heathrow, but across all UK airports.
